Medi-Share is the largest health sharing ministry we track (400,000+ members, founded 1993, Melbourne, FL). Monthly shares vary by age and AHP — the published individual band is $115–$470, couple $219–$720, family $390–$850. That is the same range on our Medi-Share review. This page is an additive cost Q&A; it does not replace that review.

What Changes the Monthly Share?

Two levers move the number: age band and AHP. A younger household on the $12,000 AHP sits near the floor ($115 individual). An older household on the $3,000 AHP sits near the ceiling ($470). Medi-Share does not publish a downloadable age-by-AHP grid on its marketing site — the live page is a personalized quote. We therefore cite the verified min/max bands, not invented mid-band cells.

Faith requirement also matters for eligibility, not price: a Trinitarian statement of faith and active church involvement. That does not change the dollar ranges above.

How the AHP Works vs. a Typical IUA

Most ministries on this site use an IUA (Initial Unshareable Amount) per incident. Medi-Share uses an annual household portion. You meet $3,000 through $12,000 once per year across eligible bills, then sharing can apply. That is closer to an insurance deductible than a per-incident IUA — and it is why a year with several small bills can still leave you paying the full AHP before anything is shared.

For the industry-wide IUA explainer, see what an IUA is. For how Medi-Share sits next to other ministries' monthly bands, see health sharing cost.

Costs the Monthly Share Does Not Include

New acute prescriptions: up to 6 months of sharing; ongoing maintenance medications are not shared (Navitus / GoodRx discount programs are the published workaround). TeleBehavioral health is included; in-person outpatient therapy is not shared. Maternity requires faithful sharing from the month of conception through delivery, AHP of $3,000 or higher, and carries a $125,000 cap per single pregnancy. Typical processing time is 45-60 days. Medi-Share is not HSA-compatible.

The Bottom Line

Budget $115–$470/month if you are shopping as an individual, or $390–$850/month for a family, plus the AHP you pick ($3,000 / $6,000 / $9,000 / $12,000). There is no sharing cap after the AHP, but pre-existing conditions wait 36 months. Get a personalized quote from Medi-Share for the cell that matches your age and AHP — we will not invent one.

Frequently Asked Questions

How much does Medi-Share cost per month?

Medi-Share monthly shares are $115–$470 for an individual, $219–$720 for a couple, and $390–$850 for a family. The exact share depends on age and the Annual Household Portion (AHP) you choose. Medi-Share’s public pricing page is a quote calculator, not a published rate card — these ranges come from our verified plan file and match the live Medi-Share review.

What is Medi-Share’s AHP?

AHP stands for Annual Household Portion. It is Medi-Share’s deductible equivalent: the amount your household pays toward eligible medical bills each year before sharing begins. Published AHP options are $3,000, $6,000, $9,000, $12,000. A higher AHP usually means a lower monthly share.

Does Medi-Share have a sharing cap?

None — no annual or lifetime sharing cap. Eligible bills above the AHP are shareable without an annual or lifetime dollar cap. Pre-existing conditions are a separate rule: not shared for the first 36 months, then capped at $100,000 per member per year after 36 months and $500,000 per member per year after 60 months.

Is Medi-Share cheaper than ACA insurance?

Unsubsidized ACA Silver plans commonly run hundreds of dollars more per month than Medi-Share’s individual floor. That gap is why people compare them. If you qualify for ACA subsidies (generally under 400% of the federal poverty level), a subsidized marketplace plan can cost less than Medi-Share and comes with a legal payment guarantee. Always compare your actual subsidized premium, not a national average.

What extra costs sit on top of the monthly share?

The AHP is the big one — $3,000 to $12,000 per year before sharing starts. New acute prescriptions may be shared for up to 6 months; ongoing maintenance medications are not shared (discount cards are the usual workaround). In-person outpatient mental health is not shared. Maternity is shareable if you share faithfully from the month of conception through delivery, with AHP at $3,000 or higher and a $125,000 cap per single pregnancy. Those limits are from Medi-Share’s published guidelines in our plan file.
